Pretty sure nobody can buy it, there is an exemption for sustenance hunters/First nations to use the rifles for now for sustenance/treaty rights hunting only, says nothing about them being able to buy them (and the OIC specifically says they cannot be sold by anyone in Canada or imported, no exceptions)
you can use anything that was NR prior to the ban to hunt if you fit into one of the exemptions. can't take them to the range or gunsmith (according to blueline the cop website but you know that). whether you actually can or not will probably be decided in court; otherwise i guess we are supposed to club animals to death with them if the scope goes off or the firearm needs fixing. you can still buy/sell parts but not the firearm itself. typically the 'firearm' is defined as whatever has the serial number on it - the receiver usually. easy with an m305 or something like that. with an AR-style firearm like the stag i *think* they designated both the upper and the lower as the firearm, so can't legally trade in either right now. as a result i think you post violates forum rules and i probably typed all this only to have it deleted ...
I’m pretty sure DILLIGAF’s comment refers to the fact that there is a flow of illegal firearms on some reserves in Canada, coming mostly from the USA and smuggled by boats and snowmobiles.

there is actually a documentary or some kind of tv show that talks all about the 6 nations reserves and the cross border smuggling of drugs, tobacco, firearms and ammunition. It was some years ago that I watched it but if i recall correctly it was mostly US law enforcement so don't think it was a canadian piece.
google hasn't helped me find it...
I’ve seen something like that maybe a year or two ago. It was canadian and mostly talking about the cigarets smuggling but they mentionned drugs, guns and people too.
