I am looking for any "words of wisdom" that will help make my mags work. I have two brand new 30/5 factory STAG mags that came with the rifle that continually fail to feed. All they do is send the bullet back into the case when I try to chamber a round. Even if I do get the first round in manualy, the next ones jam into the feed ramp. I have since replaced the upper with a Dlask upper with the same results. Before I melt these pieces of crap into jewelry, will a swap of follower help. As a side note, I sent an e-mail to Stag and no reply. I also sent two e-mails to Arms East and no reply. Not even a sorry about your luck or kiss my d##k. What good is a Canadian distributor if they don't want to help if there is a problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated before I snap. Thanks.

If you are using hollow points or soft pointed ammo....STOP! I had the same problem with my Stag rifle when I was using the ammo sold by the indoor range I was shooting at. Failure to feed and bullets getting pushed into the casing. Once I changed to 55 gr FMJ rounds I have yet to have another stoppage. Also, I believe Walt From ArmsEast may still be at the SHOT convention so don't be so quick to state that he isn't supporting you in your time of need. He is excellent with customer service and will no doubt contact you ASAP when he learns of your problem.

I had problem with the Tavor 30/5 mags somehow similar to yours. The problem found to be with the way they were pinned. The rivet was too long interfering with movement of the spring. I changed it with a modified shorter rivet so now spring moves freely inside the mag. The problem was solved. I hope that may help you.

The mags we sell are standard 30/5 C-Products mags. If there is a problem with jamming with a new mag, an adjustment of the lips should do it (bend the feed end of the lip up a touch). If that doesn't work, I'd replace it. Haven't had a mag back yet though.
I received no emails about this.

I'd lay a bet he's using 45 gr Hollow Point Winchester White Box value packs for varmint hunting. Just for s**ts 'n giggles one day at the range I toted two Colts, an LMT and a STAG AR to the range and tried shooting that ammo using known mags that feed flawlessly with all other ammo.

Every time there was bullet set back or damage. I didn't actually fire the rounds, simply ejected them after cycling. Running the ammo through a crimping die will solve most problems, but it simply is too much hassle and potentially dangerous to bother with. Either handload or buy quality FMJ stuff loaded to mil-spec standards that is designed to work in ARs and similar rifles.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I am using Federal Premium 55gr hollow point sierra gameking BTHP . I will first try tweeking the lips(sounds dirty), then changing the followers, then running over them with my truck. I don't see the point in owning a AR-15 that won't shoot hollow points. All my other mags work fine so it's probably not the ammo. Thanks again.

We used the cheap version of Federal( American Eagle )52 HP before and have bullet setback problem.

AR doesn't like "uncrimped" short bullets. Many of these ultra light varmint ammo were designed for bolt action.

You will think ammunition manucturers learn but they don't.
