Found an almost full bottle of this stuff amongst my glut of gun related goodies. I have no recollection of buying it but it may have been my dad who bought it. I figure the bottle is at least 25 yrs old. Anyone ever hear of and use it? It is made in Canada. I wonder if it is what we now know as tru oil? I have a couple of refinishing projects on the horizon and would like to know if this stuff would be a good finish for the job? Thanks

'Stag' is a really old brand name. Stag stuff is long gone. Although there is a Northern STAG Industries in Thunder Bay. No idea if they're the same people.
Tru-Oil is a blend of tung oil and other oils. STAG might be a tung oil based product or it might be linseed oil based. Drying has nothing to do with age though. I'd spring for a new can of tung oil myself. Not cheap stuff though. Runs about $18 per litre.

Sunray, Don't know where you get your information buy Tru Oil is a blend of LINSEED oil and other oils.

Northern Stag Industries is in Thunder Bay Ont. and Stag 305 is similar to TruOil in that it is linseed oil with a hardener mixed in to speed up drying time.
