Can anyone explain what the difference is between a chrome lined barrel and a 4150 CMV double lapped barrel is? Which is better and why? Is there a way to tell the difference? ... Thanks

Just range shooting, out to 400 yrds. I like it to be as accurate as possible. I like to shoot some groups and then just blast off rnds.Do one cost more than the other?

If you are looking for accuracy the double lapped barrel would be the one to go with. Chrome lined barrels are generally les accurate but will stand up to fast fireing and high volume of fire better. That is why Chrome lining is wanted by the military

chrome line barrel is a surface treatment to reduce barrel wear, not meant to increase accuracy.
double lapping is a chamber treatment to remove any machining marks and smooth out the chamber walls. with a smooth chamber less friction ensures extraction reliability. doesn't do much for the accuracy either.

I think I have the double lapped, but I'm not sure. I took this gun on a trade, and the add said 1/7 twist ,chrome lined barrel. But when I got the rifle ,it was stamped 1/9!twist. Arms east shows this as double lapped. I'll call tomorrow to verify.
