Does anyone know what the STAG arms Model 1R weighs? The website makes no mention of it.

Also is the barrel of the Model 1R the same contour as the M4 (government tapour I think)?

Has anyone had a chance to put a decent scope on one of these stags? I am wondering what they'll shoot. I am pretty good at rolling loads and was curiious if a good custom load could shoot 1 MOA in this rifle.

Thank you!

Around 7lbs.

They do have the M4 type barrel profile. Skinny beneath the handguards, thicker at the muzzle end with the little cut for the grenade launcher. The 16" barrel does not enable the use of issue bayonets though.

They are not really precision target rifles. They will generally shoot 1.5-2"MOA.

5.95lbs, Unloaded.

Yes, M4 Profile Barrel.

I have shot 1MOA with WWB and a scope. Generally I would hope to be able to keep any AR-15 carbine under 1.5" at 100m. These are as accurate as any ordinary military M4. Though some manufactures quote 'potential MOA' in their descriptions, I consider including this just marketing-speak. Colt, Stag, Bushmaster, etc quote what they make, different features for different purposes.

Most people looking for a specialized long range rifle won't be choosing a 16" carbine. A 20" barrel M16 rifle barrel is also offered, which will maintain higher velocities at distance, with a longer sight radius on irons. We can also do 24" Stainless HBAR rifle with 11degree target crown and FF tube for those who require specialized/accurized rifles, at the cost of carbine convenience.

For most shooters, for most purposes, a 16" M4 is a good balance of convenience/accuracy and long life/ease of maintainance (chrome lining).

The 1R and 2R are the same rifle, with different rear sights.

Hope that helps.

OT: If you've been trying to get a hold of me and having a hard time this past week, I'm sorry, I've been out of the country. Got back last night and am now catching up on messages. Further, professional strength items will be up on the website soon, I'll post here when it's updated.

If you're left handed, and you like ARs... What's not to like about a left handed AR? ;)

(I'll stop schilling now, just here to answer questions as asked).

The Gun Digest Book of THE AR-15 by PAtrick Sweeney did a review of the
16" Stag 1L.

Page 284 - In function, the Stag was flawless. It gobbled everything I had, reloads as well as factory... As for accuracy, the Stag exceeded all expectations. It shot well with everything... it shot 1.0 to 1.5 MOA with iron sights (depending on ammo). So, I took off the rear sight, and clamped the Leupold MArk 4 on it. Every single group I shot with that scope on the Stag Arms carbine , using the (Black Hills) MK262 Mod1 was sub-MOA.
The Hornady V-Max bullet is a varmint bullet, and not one I'd want to be using for defense. But for target shooting, all I can say about this ammo in this rifle is: "Stand back earth beings" because the Stag was spectacular with it. It was routine to have the rifle and ammo produce five shot groups I could cover with one paster. I shot several that were simply five shots in a single, ragged hole.

This was enough to recently make me buy a Stag 1R from ArmsEast. I really like the rifle and customer service from Walter is top notch! My next AR will be a Stag model 2R with an ARMS SIR system.

In the same book that JNG quoted there it also mentions that the stag arms is the ONLY other producer to properly stake the carbine tube tube on besides colt...... stagarms is the closest to milspec as it gets.

me being a lefty I too want a stag arms left handed gun, and after reading the reviews want one even more :)

remember if you don;t like the lefty upper just take it off and put a righty on it..... the lower is the same either way.
