I installed of nib stag arms lower part kit in a Blue line lower to find that the selector detent doesn't make a "clicking" sound as it should. I re-installed a dpms selector in the same reciever and it "clicks" just fine.
Upon inspection i've noticed that machining of the selector is rough and won't allow for the detent to ride along the slot and fall into the hole for it.
Anyone else find the stag arms smaller parts to be not functioning well?
Or was this just a bad run of selectors?
jamie.

No issues with Stag LPKs. Generally, I find them to be much higher quality than DPMS, etc...

Based on what? How many of each have you compared? By what standard or test did you determine that one part was of higher quality than another? Please include examples of where DPMS parts failed when a part from another company would not have failed?

I'll wade in here and probably get my ass kicked for it...

I've installed about a dozen of each..
I've had issues with the springs in the DPMS kits 2 times...
I've had burrs on parts from the DPMS kits and uneven finish on some of the the stag parts...

I'd call it pretty much even

Several dozen builds. Had to use DPMS kits when I couldn't source STAG, RRA LPKs. Of those, had to use DPMS kits 6 times. Had issues with about half dozen springs among the half dozen kits. Every single one of the DPMS kits had poorly finished parts, with burrs, or out of spec parts that required ridiculous amounts of post-sale fitting and polishing just to get them to fit together in somewhat semblance of proper fit/function. I ended up completely stripping two lowers with DPMS kits and replacing them with a RRA & a STAG LPK. No issues thereafter.

Haven't had a single issue with the dozen and half other builds I've done using either STAG or RRA LPKs. Incidentally, I had a couple dozen brand new DPMS mags that weren't worth a damn either. They were new production, new anti-tilt followers, were properly pinned and wouldn't feed worth a damn. I sold them at a loss to a buddy who knew what he was getting and bought LAR-15 & P-Mags. Zero issues.

Obviously you own a DPMS rifle, otherwise you wouldn't have your back up or your nose bent out of shape. Whatever floats your boat. I've had nothing but issues or problems with the DPMS products that I've used. Speaking with a number of other fellow shooters, I've learned that my experience isn't unique or isolated.

That said, if you are happy with your DPMS rifle, I'm glad! The more AR-15 owners we have the better it is for all of us other black rifle owner. There was nothing personal intended. I merely offered an opinion based on what I think was a decent amount of experience related to the topic under discussion. STAG generally makes good stuff, although even they have slip-ups in QC, just like any manufacturer.

Actually I don't, although I do have a DPMS LPK in my rifle. Mostly I am tired of people spouting off crap that XX part is no good when they are simply repeating something that someone else who doesn't know #### told them so we have reams of BS information circulating about where the vast majority of people repeating this info wouldn't know a good part from a bad part if it kicked them in the testicles.

I have personally installed at least a dozen DPMS LPK's into rifles and have yet to have a problem with a single part. At the shop we have probably installed 50+ DPMS LPK's into rifles and I've never heard anyone complain about a bad part. Yet you are saying you had a 50% failure rate with the DPMS LPK's you used? Something doesn't add up here.

The last three lowers I built, I used DPMS kits. I have had no issues, and the lowers function 100 percent. I didn't have any out of spec/tolerance issues, nor did I have to machine or fit any parts. I personally did not notice any difference between the DPMS kits and the Stag kits.

I dunno, maybe my DPMS kits came off the assembly line when someone was having a really bad day. From my personal experience, I think they're better kits out there for me. If DPMS is your preferred brand, all the more power to you.

Getting back to the OP's question, I have had zero problems with STAG LPKs. I would buy them again without hesitation. Same for RRA. If you have an issue with STAG parts, give Walt a call and he will make it right.
