I had hoped that the new .308 semi BCL recently released would have the ability to swap barrels and potentially other parts shared with the stag 10 types..... but seems that is not the case.
So really the only option, that I'm aware of , is a straight pull build.
I see Victory Ridge/MRA is producing a fair number of renegade straight pulls but I rarely see mention of the Maverick.
I thought we might see more user reviews on them here on CGN but I have not been actively searching for those threads in recent months.
The concept interests me only because I do have most of the components to assemble one and if I did go down that road it would be in .338 Federal.
If I recall correctly, I saw some discussion on extraction issues but haven't read enough reviews or discussion to form any kind of opinion.
I want to like this Maverick platform but at the same time, what does it give me when comparing it to say a rem700 in a compact MDT chassis.
My reasons for wanting a stag-10 was to build a short barrelled .338 federal for treestand and still hunting the thick stuff.
So I am still torn on whether to drop the coin on a maverick receiver kit or just hold on to my parts , hoping for an OIC reversal when the conservatives win the next election....... it's a gamble either way so I may just invest in a used rem 700 in .308 and rebarrel it to .338 fed
