Staining SKS stock?

Well, i think the original stock is better than aftermarket ones but i can't see why it should absolutley looks like every other SKS in the world...

Never done it, but when stripped, the stock is a medium brown colour. You may need to bleach the wood to get more of the coloured dye to stand out.

The dye will add a green or blue tone to the wood, but won't change the colour of the darker areas much. See what you're up against?

Hum, i see, i thought it was a bit lighter than that. Any red or brown stain will do well but lighter shades...

Are the laminate stock as dark? The one i saw in another post, with an oiled finish, looked lighter.

Was thinking on a "gift" for my cousin, something personnalized - all teenagers want to unique, like all other teenagers...

Careful with pics on this site. The camera and flash makes a HUGE difference. My pic above was without a flash and is a bit lighter than it appears in person.

I don't know how the colour of laminate stocks compares to a solid wood stock.

I spent a few nights sanding mine down and then stained it with a nice walnut and a couple of coats of sealer and it turned out awesome. It seems to depend on the quality of the stock you get with the rifle. I bought another one and the wood was just crap so I replaced it with a (surpress the flaming) Tapco stock. Now it's a great truck gun.
