Stainless Laminate BLR .450 Marlin?

Well I took a chance and bought one. I will give it a workout this weekend. first glance looks and feels great. My only complaint so far is there is no way it weighs 7 lbs as advertised by SIR. I havent had a chance to weigh it yet but compared to rifles that do weigh 7lbs i would say this is 8 or more
Stainless/Laminated BLR81
I bought a Stainless/Laminated BLR81 in 358 Winchester. Beautiful gun and after doing a bit of research, Lebaron is close to having the best price on these. I bought mine just before Xmas and they had 2, a 450 Marlin and the 358 W I bought. The price I paid after discount for membership came to around $875 before taxes. I have seen them advertised at close to $1100 in some stores.
There are rumours that this is really a limited edition and I would not wait too long if I had ideas of buying one. The last time I checked, the Browning site did not even have them listed.

It should be emphasized that these have a matte stainless barrel and a matte nickel plated receiver. I believe the receiver is made of aluminum alloy (aircraft grade??)

PS. I also have a regular (blue/walnut)BLR 81 (1981 Vintage) in 358 W - will be difficult to make a choice on which one to use for deer hunting next season.

I agree that this is a rare case (stainless/laminate in a lever action) but very welcome by serious hunters who do not particularly like synthetic stocks.

I took the .450 to the range yesterday. Love it! the factory sights are very good. I also tried it with a Leupold VXIII 1.5x5 and it was very accurate however the Leupold does not have enough eye relief and I came uncomfortably close to scopeing myself a few times. The recoil is managable but it does move you around a bit.
I am surprised that the Leupold does not have enough eye relief... are you shooting from a bench? Is the scope positioned correctly in the mounts and the eyepiece adjusted properly. I apologize if I sound condescending Sean but there should be more than adequate eye relief in that scope on that rifle.sean said:

You may be right. I have been on crutches for a couple weeks so the only shooting position I tried was sitting at a bench. I guess I will have to wait and try the leupold agian before I give up on it.
