Ive got a ruger m77 hawkeye in Matte stainless.. What is the best method to clean the outside of the stainless barrel.. It looked a bit stained the last time I was out so started rubbing one spot with just my finger and it became a lot shinier and it seemed like it was dirty..

I use Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish, after several uses you'll need sunglasses while cleaning lol
Not as shiny on a matte finish, but still cleaned up CZ 75 in matte quite nicely.

Rebead blast with a fine glass bead. Rugers matte finish always looks dirty.

Alcohol? I'd apply some Renaissance wax, Boeshield T9 or G96 after that though.

I just use G96 on my son's matte stainless Ruger American...if you use mag polish you'll polish the barrel to a shine, which isn't as ideal for hunting.
