Help! Can anyone in the Edmonton area recommend a place where I might get the supplies to make the drum for my homemade stainless steel tumbler. I live just south of Edmonton and no place here has pipe in the 6" to 10" diameter unless I buy like 4 metres of it. Any suggestions of places I could try would be appreciated? Also, would need to get the fitting too for it.

i made mine out of a 5gal bucket with a Gamma lid... 3" PVC pipe cut in 3 lenght wise and the "blades" screwed into the sides as paddles. On the bottom i attached the lid so the top and the bottom of the bucket have the same circumference so they can roll evenly.

On one side the drive shaft is metal gas line and the other side is skateboard roller wheels supporting the bucket, The drive motor is from my old furnace and the whole thing is made on a skid my new furnace came in.

the single most expensive thing was the gamma lid at 13 bucks the rest is all stuff i had lying around.

Go to a second hand store and buy a stailess steel pot. They usually come with lids as well.

Grind off the handle and drill a hole in the bottom or weld on a bolt. Attach it to your rig and you are away to the races.

A pot with tapered sides is preferrable. They can be had for under $10, right up to 5 gallons.

Biggest you will find is 4" in any of the hardware stores. You can go to plumbers village or any plumbing specialty store and get 6 or 8" but the price of the end cap and reducer you need will give you a heart attack.

I made mine out of a piece of PE pipe we have at work. Search my handle and you will have complete plans on how to build the motor assembly and I think I have a picture of the drum.

I tried ebay and no one will ship the correct barrels up here, if you have someone state side then have them buy it and then ship up here.

I made mine from a water jug at Walmart:

That is a brillant idea. I guess I need to start thinking outside of the box for the drum idea. I just wanted to keep the drum weight down and not tax the rig I have made.

even the industrial ones use a polyurethane liner, for a reason.

I have seen the cement mixers last a while in this application, you can get plastic ones as well
