Stainless vs Hard chrome

Ok, I have seen a few comparison threads on the different finishes, blued, parkerized, stainless etc....

But I am getting ready to make a purchase of this gun and I am not sure which way to go......the stainless version is about $ 150.00 more than the hard chrome. I realize that hard chrome is a finish and not a metal type such as stainless....I do not holster my guns so wearing of the finish isn't really a factor......so far.

The stainless is a little shinier than chrome.

Not sure if I should pay the extra 150 plus tax for the stainless....is it worth it??

What do ya'll think ?

if you aren't holstering your gun, you don't really need either. the hard chrome is a very durable finish, the stainless is inherently corrosion resistant. If you scratch the chrome (hard to do) you could break through to the steel beneath. the stainless goes clear through. Plain steel will wear better then stainless if you do a lot of shooting. The hard chrome makes it last even longer. The only real choice between them is apperance. If you like the stainless 150$ more, buy it. If you live around salt water, it would be the best choice. Me, I prefer electrless nickel for a matte finish ;)

Oh, stainless usually holds a slightly better re-sale value

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of a gun in this finish would you ?

The Trojan or course isn't offered in electoless nickel, but I would like to see what it does look like.
 
On a related note, does anyone know why the stainless Trojan costs 50% more than the blued version? Usually, gunmakers charge an extra $50 (at most) for stainless. Hard chrome is an expensive finish, so I can see why they would ask for a substantial premuim...but stainless steel is only marginally more expensive than old-fashioned carbon steel. And it seems that other than the finish, the only other difference is the adjustable "tactical" sight on the stainless version vs. a Bomar-type sight on the blued version, which would hardly account for the $500 difference between the two.

hard chrome on STI

Just got my edge back from rodger at rk custom guns and all I can say is "AWSOME!!!"...check out the pics
the hard chrome job looks factory perfect. good price(see website) and superfast turnaround. highly recommend his work and i will be sending more work his way..

I would get a Stainless over a Hard Chrome. The Hard chrome is a finish, stainless is forever. My USP stainless still looks new.

I'm not complaining but rather asking if there are any differences in features (other than the finish) that are responsible for the $500 price jump. My comment was made out of curiosity and not intended to be a personal affront to anyone. No need to take things personally.
 
By-gones.
A lot can get lost in emails and internet postings. Never intended it to seen as taking it personally; I was just noticing this. I notice things, which is why I get the big bucks:p
