Lebaron just updated their Remington UMC ammo prices (actual they updated all their ammo TODAY!) check it out.

UMC .223 $11.69
UMC .308 $21.76

You know what that means. Target Sports is going to jack up their price tomorrow too. Because it is a new shipment of course, lower dollar, increased shipping costs, etc....
Watch how fast their $499 case jumps up....

I picked up some boxes of ammo last night at le barons
$18.45 for .308 winchester power point
$31.36 for 8mm mauser + 10% off

Yeah, the Club Le Baron membership is definitely worth it. For the $25.00 membership fee, you get 10% off everything in the store (except the stuff already on sale or clearance).

glad i dont need .223 ammo stuff is going way up....really glad i started relaoding:)....

I'm looking at getting into reloading (slowly acquiring the gear and knowledge) and I've been saving my brass since the very beginning. However I do not see the cost savings of reloading. I can see that you can get more accurate ammo, or more "personalized" ammo, but the cost of components make reloading the same as factory. You can get a small savings if you cast your own with free wheel weights, but then you're adding a ton of time. It is still worth it for the love of the hobby and for quality, but I'm getting a little frustrated with all the talk of how cheap reloading is, when it isn't.

Every time someone quotes me why it is cheaper, they always use the component cost from 5-10 years ago when they bought their stuff, but compare it to the cost of new ammo today.

I would love to see a reloading cost comparison using todays prices on both the factory and component side.

No we are not jacking up our price as we are priced at $499.00 per 1000rds or $9.98 per 20rds when bought by the case. We resent your accusation of price gauging on our ammunition, and if you are keeping up with the exchange rate:

2009.03.10 14:44:09 UTC
1.00 USD = 1.27706 CAD
United States Dollars Canada Dollars
1 USD = 1.27706 CAD 1 CAD = 0.783049 USD

You will notice that we buy from distributors or import ourselves and the currency used is US dollars, even when purchases are made in other parts of the world, if you are willing to invest $250,000US of your own money then I can give you some guarantee on the price for at least this week.;):p

Per 1000

Powder: $28.5X 4 lbs = $114
Primers: $40
Bullets: $150
Brass: (mostly free, but I'll assume I bought a bunch of once fired, and they're good for 5 firings) $15

Total: $319/1000 or $6.40 a box of 20. Just about half the going cost of .223.

Add in the fact that you can tune the rounds to be better than the best match ammo availible and it's a great deal.

Can you specify where and when your prices were taken from?

:cheers:I have to weight in on this one.

I just started reloading (less than a year). Here is what I pay and the prices dated from February 2009. Keep in mind that these prices DO NOT involve any shopping around example:

Last Saturday I found CCI primers for 25.63 per 1000
Last month I found Hornady Bulk Bullets for 99.50 per 1000
January I bought h335 for 88.00 per 4lbs

4lbs of H335 from Higginson’s powder = 100.00 (4lbs – 27999.961gr = 1217 rounds)
1000 Hornady Bulk Bullets Higginson’s powder = 120.00
1000 Primers Higginson’s powder = 32.00
Brass (I have not bought any in the past year) / once fired

Cost with out brass and 23.0g of h-335
Powder 100.00 + 1 tax = 105.00
Bullets 120.00 + 1 tax = 125.00
Primers 32.00 + 1 tax = 33.60
Total = 263.60 / 50 = 5.72 per box of 20

Cost with brass and 23.0g of h-335
Powder 100.00 + 1 tax = 105.00
Bullets 120.00 + 1 tax = 125.00
Primers 32.00 + 1 tax = 33.60
Brass 140.00 + 1 tax = 147.00 (old price could not file listing for new price)
Total = 410.60 / 50 = 8.21 per box of 20

And just in case yes there is my person time involved, but thats why we call it a hobby :50cal:
