Standalone priming machine

Got me to thinking today: has anyone ever come up with an auto feeding priming machine? I do pretty much all of my priming by hand with an RCBS unit, and I don't mind it, I can prime 1000 rounds sitting in front of the TV in an hour and a half... I haven't tried all of the presses, but from what I read, priming seems to be a weak spot for most of them.
 
Yup...their called a Dillon 650, feeds cases & primers until the cows come home...completes one case every pull of the handle...& then you can feed them tru again to complete the process...
 
Personally, I prefer the “hand held” priming tools because it is possible to “feel” the primer seating and hard-stop at the bottom of the pocket. I originally tried priming in the press but the mechanical advantage made it difficult to “feel”.
 
Need to move up to a progressive machine to get reliable on press priming. If you reload enough it's worthwhile. Like most thing, to make more convenience you just add money.
 
I picked up a Lee bench mounted priming press from Western Metal a couple of years ago. The arthritis in my hands was making the job difficult/painful with a Lee or RCBS hand priming tool.

The bench mounted press was awkward when bolted to the bench and of course, took up needed space. I finally mounted it onto an aluminum plate, which I can set up just about anywhere.

It's a good press but it also needed some work to get it operating properly. Feeding issues were numerous but a bit of judicious filing on rough cast edges straitened it all out. It's a good way for those with arthritis to get around the hand held units.
 
I own a RCBS Ram Primer (screws in like a die at the top of the press) and use it in my RCBS Rock Chucker IV and it produces very accurate and consistent primer seating depths with a single press stroke. Granted the limiting factor is loading the primers one at a time but this piece of kit is a lot cheaper than a descent progressive press. Just my 2 cents.

Yes. Priming is part of reloading, so it happens automatically with a progressive press. The hassle is usually filling the primer tubes. For that, Dillon makes the RF100, and camdex has it's own machine. Both work on the same principle.

 
I love my lee bench primer thingy...... when it works.... but once you get settled into a rhythm it’s awesome.
 
Most prime-on-press arrangements (at least the Dillon and Lee ones I've tried) prime on the backstroke (raise handle, lower brass onto primer) and you can feel the bit of resistance as the primer goes in or know something went wrong if it feels any differently.
