Has anybody here ever have success shooting standard minor? Just wondering if its even worth trying. I shoot very little Cs and almost never any Ds so I'm wondering if the speed advantage would be worth it

I shoot standard minor, but it is very difficult to keep up.... You have to be able to shoot fast and accurately

You especially need those A's on the short speed courses

Do you guys shoot 9mm or .40? I rolled a batch of 180 g X metal over 3gr of Clays to see if they will feed properly...

Guess the only way to find out is to shoot a match..

I shot standard minor for 2 years. Why are you there ? if you are there to seriously compete then you want to go major. But if like me you are there to meet new people, enjoy the sport, enjoy the challenge of improving yourself and like to help out at your club then don't worry about who's winning and enjoy yourself. My scores were gradually increasing, that's all that mattered to me. Recently switched to classic minor because I needed a new toy and the 1911 with its single stack fits me better. In the end the friends you make and the camaraderie you enjoy isn't derived from a score.

I'm competitive and already shoot major, I was wondering if there was any advantage for me to shoot minor. I'm a solid B might make A eventually but that's it.

If you are just wanting to have fun, it doesn't matter. If you actually want to be competitive, you are at a HUGE disadvantage shooting minor in Standard. If you want to shoot minor, better to get a production gun.

It's really quite simple. A decent shooter with a good gun can shoot his standard major gun just as fast as he can his minor gun. It's a myth that you can make up the difference in time. There is nothing to balance them out. Major wins every time.
