Hello all,

A few years ago I saved an old Star Model B from being surrendered for destruction. It was not looked after very well and some of the bluing is missing and there is some light pitting on the slide. I have taken it to the range twice and was very impressed at its accuracy and the nice crisp trigger. It is certainly a fun pistol to shoot, but I am more interested in learning the history of it. I know the background of star pistols, but I am looking to date it (figure out if it was a war manufacture, or post-war, etc).

All of the parts are stamped with the last 3 digits of the serial number and all are matching.

3 magazine, 2 of which are stamped with the serial number.

What appears to be an original holster

What is clearly a more recent manufacture, but still interesting, shoulder holster.

Any information you may have would be much appreciated. Any comments or questions are also welcomed.

I know nothing about those nice little Star 9mm but think the whole shoulder holster fad died in the 1980s (regardless as to what JTF# avatar feels about them).

Ya the guy I got it from said he got it in the 80’s, so I’m sure he was the coolest dude at the range rocking that bad boy lol

Looks like an old German Border Police gun because of the holster
Check who made holster

Great suggestion! On initial look I didn't see anything on or in the holster, but looking closely I can see "Hess. L. Polizei" marked on the back between the belt loops. It appears to be for the Hessian State Police?

True story. I had a appointment with my family doc and the guy coming out into the waiting room from his check up or whatever in civvy attire was rocking a (1980s) shoulder holster and Glock and I came within a nanosecond of calling GUN and tackling him till I saw the badge upon his belt. Man, that could have been an interesting afternoon.
