Started a new curly maple for my F-Class rig UPDATE JAN.10TH, FINISHED PICS

WOW, that's come a long way from a solid block of wood. Looks awesome! Can't wait to see it when it's all stained and finished. Amazing work! :)

very nice work bob beautiful tiger strip maple f class lines like we like them im pretty sure its gonna be stiff like rock with a rig like that you gonna need to make it shine at 1000y very goog job should be very proud

cheers Fred

Bob, that is great work! I wish I had 10% of your woodworking ability!

I really love that stock especially with the tigerstrip. I am not usually a woodstock guy but I am looking forward to seeing further updates.

Sanding is all done, and I started the oil. Here you really see the wood grain. This is the first coat, when wet it is yellowish, but it gets more transparent when it dries out.

Been a while !

It is now 99% complete. Still so area to polish, and the bag rider to make, but all I can say is that I am very happy with the result so far. It is very stiff also, I push gently on the barrel and no stock flex whatsoever.

Here are some parts being oiled

And here is the bag rider I started. I'll be able to swap it with the bottom of the buttstock for the season, and if I ever change bags later on I'll use the curly maple one or simply build another.

And here we go, my 2014 F-Class rifle !! Probably the most built Savage Axis out there...

Thanks a lot to Eddycat for the aluminium hardware, and to you all for your kind words along this project. Hope it shoots as good as it looks.

I must say, the most interesting and informative thread I have seen. Beautiful work and craftsmanship. You should be very proud of your work.
