Starter long range rifle opinions

And a threaded barrel on 6.5CM is meaningless, not like there is any recoil with that cartridge in a heavy 26" barrel rifle.
I filled the hollow butt of my 12FV with lead wheel weights and silicone caulking, weighs about 13lbs now. Stock is pretty comfortable so I'm trying to make it work rather then replace it.

Not true, less recoil is less recoil. what is easier to see your hits on through the scope? A 17HMR or a 308? I can tell the difference between a .17HMR and a .22lr. Maybe on a 20lb+ rifle you couldn't tell. I can tell when I take my brake off a 10lb 6.5CM rifle.

I agree.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I am leaning alot towards cz 557 varmint bc i own a range and it is beautiful. To make matters complicated they offer synthetic in 20" and walnut in 26.5"....not that i plan on setting any world records but im guessing that extra length would add alot to accuracy?

Every 3 inches of barrel length yields around 100fps. The further out you can keep your bullet supersonic, the better accuracy you will have. But your bullet even with 26 inches of barrel will go subsonic at around 850-1050 yds, depending on bullet and velocity at the muzzle.
For factory rifles, Tikka are pretty good performers, then Savage and Remington. There are others, but they are not nearly so common and the price can be higher; and not because they will outperform a less expensive one, but because of manufacturing cost.
For the money, you may want to look at a used F/TR rifle. You get top notch components and very good accuracy that you won't find in a factory rifle.

All the best!

I agree with those that say Tikka T3 Varmint but why not go 300WSM...only uses a little more powder and way superior to the 308 at anything over 600 yards....:)

So... range report?
How's it shoot. I have a CZ 557 Range myself, and was looking at adding the Varmint if it had good accuracy and good reach.
It sure is pretty!
