Starter sniper rifle

cerickson, heard about Mcmillan stocks, right? Well Ian's are better than Kelly's.
Besides, by buying this stock, you support TWO CANADIAN companies, instead of one american company

the 1:12" twist on the SPS 223 would limit it to 55 gr. bullets, which arent much good past a quartermile at the furthest. Wind drift becomes a huge problem.

I personally would buy a LTR 223 with the 1:9" twist and shoot the heavier 70ish grain bullets. Much easier transititon from 22LR to 223 than it is to jump to 308.

I agree that a 1/9 twist Or better .223 woudl be my first choice.

Its a cheaper way to get introduced to longer range shooting and afford to get the trigger time in that long range shooting requires to be good.

Again! a .308 Savage 10FP w/ Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 Mildot, Farrel Rail Base & Harris Bipod, for a grand total of about $1000.00.

That's the way to go for starter. I owned a 10 fp and they can shoot!!

.223 vs. .308

ive used .223 for 5 years in the military and have seen what it can do when i was in bosnia. (laddas dont really like .223) lol

.223 is much cheaper to run, and there were some guys on my tour, that could do a toonie group at 400metres with it.

so if you can master that, and pull off a golf ball at 400ish, by that time you will have enuf money to upgrade to the 308, soup it up, sell your 223 that you would have souped up over a year or so

and you will be doing bullets ontop of bullets at 100m, and prolly a penny at 600.

then after that, go .50 cal BABY YEAH...... nothing like a penny at a grand

you made a good choice by wanting 700 and 700p, both are great rifles and both have their ups and downs.

223 is smaller but cheaper, 308 is bigger but more versatile.

You should see what both 7.62x39 & 7.62x51 does to a Lada!
