Wanted to start reloading pistol ammo. What would be a reasonable way to get started--ie. equipment etc.

For those of us who are not "well off" enough to buy RCBS, try a Lee kit. It also comes with everything you need to start. Buy a single stage, so you can learn the process and hone the skills before moving up.

That's hat I have been doing this summer, and it's been a blast learning, and experimenting with my loads for rifle and pistol.

I do plan on buying a progressive this winter, so that I can pump out the ammo for my pistols, but right now I''m good practicing and learning on the single stage.

My $0.02....

Lee Turret Press Kit. You work on the cases one at a time, so it's relatively easy to figure out for a beginner, but you get double (or more) the output of a single stage. Another huge advantage (in my mind) of the turret press is that if you set out to load 200 rounds, but get interrupted halfway through, you have 100 rounds loaded. If this happened with a single stage, you would have 200 rounds, all half done.

Definately a good manual. ABC's of Reloading is a good one. There's nothing wrong with the Lee manual either. Just try to read around the author promoting his own line of products. Lot's of Lee's stuff is good, but a lot doesn't live up to what Mr. Lee would lead you to believe. Read it right through, then ask questions. This is what was suggested to me a tens of thousands of rounds ago, and I'm glad I took the advice.
