Starting up IDPA at your range?

Looking for input on what considerations should be made for someone looking to start up IDPA? I am gauging interest at our range as they used to run IPSC but the cost of having to travel out of town to make qualifying matches made it lose some interest.

Just wanting to get info on some perspective hurdles or unexpected items you may face in starting up IDPA at your range.

Things I'm considering so far are:

1. Safety training
2. Course of fire all directly down range and ensuring only the individual running the course and the timer are heading down range loaded when the range is live.
3. Course setup requiring lots of work and clean up afterward. So lots of people that will consistently help with this.

I'm sure there is more than this...

If you ran IPSC on your range it should be fine for IDPA.

Good luck,

John

"Good luck" is not good enough here in POCO. Lots of political savvy is what you need if you want IDPA in POCO. I've seen enough political BS in Victoria and Ottawa and I don't need that in a gun club, for gosh sakes.

We have IPSC here but POCO is not fine for IDPA (yet). Rottboy_8 has been pushing IDPA two years running and all he has done is run into a brick wall. Hope he does it this time around.
