I am looking for any information from any CGN'ers that have handgun hunted in the norther US states. From my google search, a non resident alien with a valid hunting license can legally handgun hunt in Maine and some of the other norther states. Anybody have any experiences? Anyone here look into this already?

I did try and use the "search" feature and got no answers to this question after about 40 minutes of reading threads...

Thanks for any info as this seems it would be a wonderful hunting experience. I specifically mention the norther states as I am in Ontario and don't want to spend hunting season driving to a southern state

Thanks for any feedback

I don't know if it still happens, but I used to shoot with some guys who got a N.Y. handgun hunting licence. 25 years ago though and limited to certain counties as I recall. Knew another guy who went to a PA hunting preserve for pigs using a .41 mag. Again, not recently.
Do a 'net search for the MNR/Fish and Game Dept. of State you want to go to and ask 'em.
New York says you must have a NYS pistol permit plus the usual Form 6 from the ATF. Not cheap either.

Minnesota and Wisconsin--buy a hunting liscense and go hunting. Game Wardens don't care if it is a handgun as long as it meets caliber requirements. As a non-resident you can still get a permit to carry concealed in Minnesota as long as you pass the handgun saftey course and don't have a criminal record.
Handgun hunting is like Harley motorcycles and teenage ###--way overrated

thanks for the replies. I will check with the individual states close by. I enjoy hunting and, this would be a new experience for me. And I do happen to like Harley's..:D
