I would like to get a Ken Farrell scope base for the stealth 2 I just order, but I am confused with the action size. On the Winchester web site it says it is a short action, but on the Near Mfg. site it's listed with the WSM size action. Which one is it?

piscutters:

I'm here buddy ! My wife shoots a StealthII in .308. Yup, I bought Ken Farrell base in 20 MOA tilt and I replaced it with ANOTHER Ken Farrell Base in 0 degree tilt since she is shooting a 16X Super Sniper.

I sold that Ken Farrell base on this board. So there are other StealthII's running around the CGN community.

Back to your action length.... It's NOT a Short Action (like we used to know). It's a "WSM" length action.... and yes Ken Farrell makes that base. Strangely enough, I bought the bases from 2 different ebayers in the US.

Frankly, the 0 degree tilt is more than adequate for 800 meter shooting with most scopes.

I love the Stealth II action ! I hope this helps your situation.

Cheers,
Barney

Thanks Hungry!!! Do you have pic of what it looks like mounted on the rifle? Some pics I have seen looks like it sticks up really high! What height of rings did you use? Do you find that there is enough room in the action to load / unload / single feed ?

Thanks pisscut

I've discovered that the Farrell base is quite high. Even with a 50mm objective scope, LOW rings are just fine. I was still only 0.25" from contacting the barrel. I've had no problems with the loading/ejection port. Lotsa room.

Just be warned that since the eyepiece is a little higher even with low rings, it would be nice to have an adjustable cheekpiece (like on my AICS M700 setup). So, to that end, I've bought a Blackhawk Industries rifle cheekpiece to raise my cheek to the higher line of sight / eyepiece.

I love my (wife's) StealthII,

Barney

Give Ken a call and he'll get the right base for you. Very nice fella to deal with and so are the gals.

Keep in mind unless you order the base to 1913 spec it will not fit all rings. No big deal. Just keep it in mind.

TPS makes rings that fit Ken's bases as does he. Farrell bases are nominal 3/8" height I believe....you might want to confirm. Low rings are recommended for most applications with his bases.

Regards,

Joe
