Steel case .223/5.56 ammo in your AR 15?

Been using Norinco 5.56 for 3guns, CQB, range day and what not since 2014. Good enough for punching paper and steel 0-400 meters.

I see plenty of people using barnaul, wolf and other affordable 5.56

Do you guys think that Norrinco 556 stuff would be good enough for 3 Gun? I'm just starting out so trying not to break the bank, just competing locally at first and see where things go.

So,

Took the plunge and purchased my first AR 15! Pretty excited to get it out to the range this week.

So, now the question, ammo; to steel case or not to steel case.

What are everyone's thoughts on running steel case ammo through their AR; does it beat the #### out of the internals and casue more wear faster? Brass isn't getting any cheaper and I'm not getting any richer (especially with this hobby) so looking at steel case ammo as an affordable option.

Having black smoke billowing out of the magazine is enough for me. No damage but had me stop on a stage, luckily RO stopped me instead of me stopping so I had a reshoot.

Some of the Norinco was excellent ammo for the price, other batches not so much. Shot with a friend whose Norinco ammo
keyholed at 15 yards during a competition. Don't know how one can sort the good from the bad.

Ever thought of reloading your own ammo?

Just sharing my experience. Lots of people shoot steel so give it a try and check your casings. It may run perfectly for you.

Shoot tons of Non corrosive steel case Barnaul and MFS thru my Colt Expanse M4 and it loves its, no issues what so ever and its the best value around.
