Steel Gong Built - Feedback Requested

Tubular nylon works really well for holding up gongs. I have a gong thats seen well over 1000 rds of 223 and everything else and the nylon is still holding up. Its definitely taken its fair share of hits and bullet shrapnel. The nylon is attached to a pair of eye bolts.
I would imagine that old seat belt junks would be very similar.

I shoot an 8x10 ar500 plate. 180 grain sst from my 30-06 hardly made a mark at 100 yards. 180's from 308 even less. 70 grain vld match from my 223 leave it smooth as a baby's butt. I had lots of fun drilling through it! A buddy got some scrap for me, I hope someday I can get a little bigger piece to set out at 1000. I'm using rope to hang, have lots of extra on hand, if it breaks, just cut off and re tie.

I've got some 1/2" AR500 steel gongs (6" and 8") that I've hit with everything from .22 up to .338 Lapua - barely any divots in the metal, and definitely zero bulging on the backside. I've got a 3/8" 32" tall one on the way, for out to 800 yards - can't wait to take that out.

Use an old tire - bolt the two top corners of the plate directly to the inside rim of the tire. Stablize the tire by filling the bottom with sand and/or hammer a piece of rebar through it. Lasts forever.

Like the Caldwell I suspect the "s" hooks wouldn't be satisfactory and could benefit from being replaced by a clevis. I also wonder with the legs basically right in the line of fire.
