With the price of copper & lead going through the roof, does anybody think we are going to see steel jacket bullets along the lines of soviet lps showing up in north america? Maybe steel cased too? It might be nice to see some bullets that don't cost $ 35 a box.

We might see some value priced stuff only because nobody will pay high for steel components. The high price of ammo today has more to do with fancier packaging and marketing. The old "standby" ammo has kept up with inflation, not much more. JMHO.

I am refering to components (bullets mostly) not ammo. I thought the lps rnd were developed to cut the cost of military ammo. The lowest price I can find on any .311-.314 bullets is $32 per 100. Cast is nice but takes a lot of time & usually ends up way low on elevation compared to milsurp. Milsurp ammo is here today , gone tommorow & a pain to import. Commercial when you can find it, is mostly for hunting & expensive. There is no import restrictions on bullets that I know of, so why not import them?
