I'm new to the whole Action Shooting thing, so sorry if this is a stupid question!

Are there any organizations in Canada where the main focus is knocking down steel plates as quickly as possible? I know sometimes IPSC has knock-down targets, but I was thinking of something more like the Bianchi Cup or the Steel Challange in the states.

just about every province has some type of steel match. usually IPSC related shooters organizing it.

Kanada Kidd brought the Steel Challenge to Edmonton in 2005 (IIRC). It was well attended but it seems to have been a one time thing.....

Thanks guys.

I was hoping there would be more than the occasional match. Looks like I might have to stick with boring old paper! :(

Well Yuri, without trying to be a smart mouth about it, why don't you try and organize something. i know that years ago at the Shepard Range SE of Calgary a young fellow was organzing a monthly steel shot. it was fun but a little hard for me to attend since i was living in Hay River at the time. Depending on where you are and what club you shot at you might be surprised how many people would be willing to help if you did the organzing.

That's something I would try someday, Walter. As I said, I'm new to the whole action shooting thing...and handgun comps in general. I'd like to get some experience under my belt before I attempted to organize something like that.

Out of all types of matches...Steel are up there with my favorites.

Problem is that they are few and far between, mostly due to all the heavy steel you have to cart around the range all day.

I think if you put the word out there and be willing to offer lots of help, you would be surprised at how many people would be interested in giving you a hand.

Steel matches are ALOT of work, but they are worth every bead of sweat you put into it.

Good Luck!

That's something I'll definately have to look into then. I'm really surprised that they aren't more common up here. Since I'm on the border, I might look into going over to the states once in while too.

Do they ever hold these matches indoors? We only have indoor ranges here. :(

where's here Yuri?

and don't be scared to try and organize one. most people are willing to come out and help set one up but it the mach organzation that most people hate doing. if you are an organize person, match administration is not bad, just be prepared for some long hours and a bunch of whining.

Well EESA has one hell of a ton of steel targets.

25 or so pepper poppers and about 100 or so plates.

That said.........this year I have three IPSC Level II matches to organize so there is no way in hell I will be able to set anything like this up.
