I'm going to draw up some steel target shapes to have cut out of AR500 at a local water-jet place. I can hang these from the target stands at the range and will have about 23y max to target. The goal is to practice skills that will transfer to IPSC, IDPA, 3 gun, etc. None of which I am involved in yet.

What shapes and sizes should I go for? 8" round?

For practice, the smaller the better, that way when you hit competition, the 8" plates will look enormous. things like 5 or 6" rounds, 6" diamonds or squares. A zone would also be good to have. We'd use more steel for practice here except the stupid Ont CFO shrouding rules make it a pain in the royal arse.

Good experience with ordering from Xmetal.

Good to hear. Shipping wasn't as bad as I was expecting. About $40 for what I ordered. Should be well worth it I think.

They have a bunch of really appealing targets but hauling them around cost of course. The gongs I will keep in my truck in a small rubbermaid with some chains. I will hang them from the moveable target stands at my range.
