Steiner repairs in Canada?

I had a set of Steiner Pilots that fell apart internally. I sent them to their Canadian repair depot and then chased them for about a year.
They kept telling me there was nothing wrong with them. When it was cold out, one eye would black out. I told them to put them in the freezer overnite. Sure enough, one eye went black.
Some guy there named Dan, said they were "grey market" Steiners and they could not fix them and didnt even return them !
My opinion...never buy Steiners.
