Stem mk2

I think that he meant STEN Mk II. If that is the case, Switzer's auction is where you want to be. Register to bid with your credit card and you are off to the races. There are some STEN parts in the current auction, but they are dwindling fast. Switzers used to offer everything but the basic tube within their various auction lots, but those days have pretty much ended. What you see is what remains.

The only legal reason for collecting STEN smg parts would be to make a deactivated "not a gun". Making a firing STEN is and has been unlawful for nearly 40 yrs. Trying to make a firing semi-auto is asking for extra special police firearms squad attention.

The only reason to own a firearm is to kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time.

Apart from the receiver, parts are uncontrolled, legal to own, buy, sell.
A dewat and a replica are different. A dewat is unregulated and legal. A replica of a non-antique firearm is not.
I suppose a dewat could be made, being a firearm that has been rendered inoperative.

I often wonder how the distinction between dewat and replica applies to a "look-alike" made from a mixture of original parts and non-functional home made parts. An example I saw at a gun show recently was a "Sten" where most of the receiver had been replaced by a piece of pipe. The external parts were original but the "receiver" was just enough off-dimension to ensure that it wouldn't accept functional internal parts.

If the thing is mocked up using original parts and is non-functional, it should qualify as a dewat.

Really? How about replacing worn or mismatched parts on a 12(2) or 12(3) gun? Or repairing business inventory (prop guns)?

Good points, but it has been years since smg owners could take their guns to the range - to wear them out. Movie companies revolve in their own atmosphere compared to the rest of us.

I believe Crown Surplus is open till the end of November…I was in there yesterday and it’s looking rather empty…there was a sten dewat hanging on the wall and a sign underneath implying they had more…$500 each.
