I have a Sten MKIII kit that i bought a while ago thinking of bulding it into a semi, but have since lost interest in the project. I was thinking of listing it on EE but i have no idea what to ask for it - there dont seem to be any for sale right now.

It's in excellent condition, all parts present (except the main tube of course), barrel is mint, T-stock. What are they going for these days?

Also, i've read somewhere that the mag well is considered to be the receiver by RCMP. Is this true only when its attached to the tube, or is it actually a "receiver" on it's own?

Barrel is standard length... 8" i believe?

In US? That tells me pretty much nothing.. I know how to use google too :) They cant be exported out of US.

I believe i saw one on EE a couple of months ago for around $600, but i could be mistaken.
 
funny, I got my MkII sten kit from Canada. Reciever tube cut in half, so the arse end is now an exhaust pipe from Midas Muffler!
That was back in the days when you could still re-activate a dewat.
 
Parts kits in Canada at the shows and on the EE are going for 450 to 600 depending on what you get with them. The exact same kits are selling online in the states for 80 to 180. If you keep an eye on the EE they do come up once and awhile. Do not try to get one from the states or even try to cross the boarder with one. First reason is that transportation of machine gun parts out of the US is a big law breaker and importing the parts here can be as big a deal. I can not find the laws right now, but it is one of the reasons that the US makers and parts guys won't even sell you a spring.

As for the repair and fire idea that may get you in to prohib territory and that would not be good. Reactivating a dewat would likely not be a good idea, you could scavange the usable parts from a dewat, but if the dewat was demilled in accordance with the cfc you would likely be far better off buying a kit.

Sorry to say but a bunch of us missed that train and just need to pay the higher price while we can. The US is seeing the prices inch up as supply goes down, due to the UN treaties we will likely never see these parts kits again.
