I just inherited an OLD, WORN, NEGLECTED, Stevens 124C 12Guage about a month ago. I am going to be doing some serious cleaning on this bad boy in an attempt to make it look nice again. I've already had it apart once, luckily for me, the action and all moving parts are free of rust and debris, just gummed up from old oil and dust. All rust seems to be outside, even the bore and magazine are in good shape. I only have one question, is this an auto loader or some kind of bolt action? The reaso I am asking is, it has a locking bolt, of a sort, that slides across the action. It dosen't have any kind of tension on it, strictly free play. My thought is, there must be a spring missing. I haven't completely peeled it down yot, but I plan to. I do have a parts breakdown, but not a very good one. It will tell me if I am missing any parts, but not necessarily where they go. See my dilemma? LOL. Any help appreciated.

I would attach a few photos of it, if I knew how.

Definitely a sort of bolt action. You have to grab the knob and pull it outwards and back to eject, reverse to load. These came from the factory with the brown "cyclolac" synthetic stock. I once had one. I met another hunter in the woods once and he was carrying one, when I asked him about his 124 he had to look at the barrel for the model number and I got to look like a true gun "geek".
