Hi there, I removed the barrel/action from the stock, so I can bedd it properly, but when I removed the barrel/action the magazine spring fell out.... does it just sit back in with no bottem plate holding it in place? did I loose a bottom plate or does the lower portion of the spring just sit on the stock?

to help clarify... It is a new steven's 200, caliber .223, removed barrel/action, magazine spring fell out, it is the zig zag type of spring, know what?

just sits in place, make sure the follower is facing the right way, and it will go right back into the action as you put the stock back on

It's not entirely unusual for a blind mag not to have a bottom plate either.
However, your rifle is already properly bedded. It has pillar bedding.

Just because it has pillars doesn't mean its properly bedded !! It never hurts to ensure the recoil lug and bottom of the receiver fit into a well mated stock. This will reduce stress on the action when the receiver bolts are torqued and prevent any shifting during recoil.

The pillars prevent the stock from compressing when you torque the bolts.

I just bedded my .243 Stevens and it made a huge difference. The plastic around the pillars was higher than the pillars so there was no metal to metal contact. There are some very good threads on the subject of bedding these in the forums so do a search and you will get all the info and pictures you need to bed and stiffen the stock so they shoot very well. :sniper:
