Hey guys,

I'm trying to fully disassemble the bolt on my Stevens 200 and I've hit a snag. I'm down to the final step, removing the ejector retaining pin, but I can't get it out. I've tried making a punch out of a small allen key twice now and they always bend before the ejection retaining pin budges.

Any helpful hints?

I have taken many out without issue. I use a 1/16 punch which is a tight fit in the hole.
If you get the retaining pin part way out and it stops moving, do as RofA suggests but I have never had that happen.

Friggin' thing... Still no luck! I'm going to take a few to calm down then dig around for a more robust punch and try again. Thanks for the help guys.

Ironically...I just converted my .223 to 22-250, and had my Savage bolt torn down today.

I have access to a vice with "soft jaws". Once I locked the bolt head in place, that 1/16 punch is the ticket. I held the ejector in just a bit, and tapped out the pin without incident. I was careful to keep everything contained cause those little springs, pins, and ball bearing can dissapear in the blink of an eye.

Good luck

Question, was it working ok? If so, why did you feel the burning desire to take it apart? LOL

A fair question ha ha ha. I'm re-barreling the Stevens and the instructions on the go-gauge said recommended that I remove the ejector from the bolt face to get the best results.

jbunny and hakx: Thanks for the tips guys. I'll go digging out in the shed to see if I have any hilti's and if not, a 1/16th punch and my friend's vice will have to do!

I have a savage 110 Tactical (long action). I previously installed a single shot follower that I bought from Mystic Player. I never had any intention of employing the blind mag.
