Phase one of my Stevens 200 project is complete! It's wearing a new thumbhole stock from Richards microfit. I spent a day finishing this thing down to 1500 grit, then I followed it up with a dozen or so raw linseed oil treatments, followed by a few more hours with the 1500 grit and finer. The surface is glass-smooth, but only a satin gloss, thanks to the raw linseed (a penetrating instead of a drying oil).
For the moment, it's still wearing a Banner scope, but I've a vari-x III that's going to get mounted. I still need to bed the action and install some pillars, some sling swivels, and a metal trigger guard. Next phase will be a heavy-sporter countor 284 win barrel
