I have a stevens 200 in 22-250. I have been working on a load for it and I noticed everytime I fire the rifle seems to have a heavy hum. I can feel it as I hold the rifle as if there is a tuning fork in the butt stock. Any one else have this problem? Is it something to worry about? My accuracy and consistancy doesn't seem to suffer and I've checked all my bolts and screws.

Probably sound resonating in the cheap hollow stock. The cheap fix is to pull the butt pad, spray in some spray foam insualtion, let it dry and expand to the max, then trim the excess and replace the buttpad. Should stop the issue. Otherwise, if it is accurate enough, then enjoy it for what it is. A budget tackdriver.

Thanks, thats a great idea! I'm gonna give it a try. I do plan to get a boyds thumbhole or a choate but probably not till after this winter.

i have tried the foam spray on some of my rifle rear stocks and for some reason the foam does not want to stay on the bottom ..when it is dry i cut the excess off and push a wire down through the foam to check if the foam is all the way down and find that there is none on the bottom ..oh yes i use a longer nozzle to get down to the bottom of the stock ..does not work for me for some reason ????
