Looking at picking one up...

Stevens 200 action bedded in a macmillian stock by Alberta tactical, shillen 1:8 heavy barrel. Condition is very good. whats it worth?

Thanks

rifle basix trigger, non adjustable stock, detachable mag, <100 through pipe action is used good contition

oops it is a hs stock not macmillan...

Hmmmmmmm............

yeah i saw that too... the action definately shows wear around the 500+ count but the barrel looks mint. the .260 is a relatively tame cartridge so the count doesnt really scare me. i dont want to over pay though. i know the seller from work, but not all to well.

Price the stock. Price a Stevens 200 donor. Price the replacement trigger. If you pay less than that total, you get a barrel and gunsmithing for free. If you pay more than that, you are having to pay some for the barrel and 'smithing. Given that most gunsmiths like to think their efforts are worth something, you shouldn't feel too bad if you pay an amount equal to the sum of the parts.

So the sum of the parts:

HS Precision Stock (take off) - $400
Stevens Action - $200
Shilen Barrel - $300
Rifle Basix Trigger - $180

Total $1,080

Smithing costs:

True Action - $125
Chamber and Thread Barrel (unless it was a prefit) - $250
Bedding Job - $100

One of the major things to evaluate is if the barrel is a prefit or not. If it is, than a significant amount of the smith time and work is not a cost to be considered.

I would think that it is a solid $1,000 for the rifle if it is in good shape.

Picked it up yesterday... been a while since I have shot some 6.5's. Can't wait to develop some loads and smack some coyotes... from a long way away!
