Stevens 200 Owners!! Anyone recently upgrade a stock?

I think a standard profile [i.e. non-thumbhole] Boyds pepper laminate stock would be just the ticket for my Stevens 200 in .243 Rem.......

NAA.

i meant on the canadian side. They searched his vehicle and he had declaired everything. no problem.

Yeah but if for some reason you are stopped on the US side you are FFFFF CCCCCKKKKKEEEEDDDD!!!!!
And as I was coming home I saw probably 4 people pulled over and it was the middle of a Monday! Not sure the reg state cops would care but there is always talk of sting type operations when Canadian plates leave the BGC!

No thanks not worth the risk!

Anyways I went ahead and ordered the Boyds Red Laminate Thumbhole. I figure what the hell I am gonna have to drill out the mounting holes and install pillers and bed it anyways. So now we wait.

Anyone know where to get an adjustable pillar kit for her?

You would never be allowed back in the states that is if somehow you get away without jailtime. Your car would be siezed. Youd be flagged for international travel. It in essence makes you some kind of terrorist. Then the police on our side of the border may not consider you safe to own guns anymore, and come and seize them. They may even find some unsafe storage charges to hit you with as well. Now all this is worst case scenario, and Im sure people do it all the time but Im not risking it. Your friend can do what he likes but I will stay safe.

seems nuts for a stock and a barrel. What is the real legislation regarding export? parts or complete firearms and what not.

Any firearms parts and ammunition including components, and powder. Basically anything that attaches to a gun, and anything to do with ammo.

Apparently Brownells will do it you just have to fill out an end user agreement form and a letter of intent. Basically it is a hassle I dont need at the moment. It might be worth it for hard to get items like say a choate stock that I was looking at, but for things that can be purchased here for less than a couple hundred bucks savings just isnt worth it. Imagine if for some reason you had to send it back!!!!!!

sharpshootersupply dot com I got an infraction last time for hotlinking. They ship here and are very reliable. I bought their "Monte Carlo Sporter" for silhouette shooting with my Stevens center feed in 7-08. Had a bit of fitting to do but it is quite good.

yeah i ordered my single shot follower from sharp shooter supply and no problem. shipped to my door in 10 days. I found that i had to do a little filing and sanding to get it to fit in my action. off topic i know but related to the imfamous stevens 200. Cross my fingers about getting my stuff i guess.

so we went gopher shooting today regardless of the weather and had some fun. I almost feel guilty having ordered the new barrel and stock because i was shooting 12 inch diameter discs from an old disker at 400 yards with my stock 200.we even blasted a couple gophers at 400. It wasn't as easy as the discs but it was alot of fun. we had a tactical heavy savage in 308 and a tikka 695 in 25-06 and the stevens held its own. Only tagged about 20 gophers today but still had a blast. I'll be selling my barrel once my new one gets here if anyone is interested in a 223 barrel that shoots sub moa.

Hello gunnutz well my Boyds thumbhole FT arrived today for my Stevens 200 270 win .I can tell you the stock does fit with a small bit of inletting for the front of the trigger guard and the L bracket for the rear of the mag.I also had to make a block to go in front of the mag to hold it in position for this I used a piece of delrin (hard nylon).you also need a long action screw for the front which needs to be shortened.total cost of the stock to my door was $120.25 US and $ 10.97 cnd for gst and handleing.the box was opened at customs.I will post a pic later if I can figure out how.I am excited to say the least as it looks awsome.rembolt . click on thumbnail to inlarge.

I bought a stock from Boyds for my Ruger and it was shipped and I picked it up like any other mail, no problem. Fit great and looks/feels awesome.

I'll get a thumb hole for the 200 in 22-250 and have a go at making it work. It certainly deserves a better stock.

boyds thumbhole

I got my thumbhole stock and it looks great. I am amazed at the finish. so smooth. also the stockys 4.3/8 stock fits my stevens perfectly. no inleting. All i had to do was take a couple mm from where the bolt release lever sits. i will finish the install when the barrel gets here.

Try Richards Microfit

They state that the inlet for all Savages but I have not actually confirmed that they will inlet for my model 11 (4.4" screw space with a DBM).

They have semi-finsihed laminates for $79. I hear their stocks are 'roughly' finished but good quality, so if you are looking a small project in stock finishing, this may work.

Laminate can be worked on, so if they dont inlet for my action I may get it semi done and do the rest myself  (I am all thumbs with wood work!)

hey guys, thought i would give you an update.

I have my stock and my barrel with no problems at the border what so ever. I got the stock from stock from stockys and i fits the 4.4 in perfectly. It is the long range varmint model thus it may not be appropriate for the lite sporter barrel. I tried it and it looked goofy. Anyway the barrel and action are at the gunsmiths now and i hope the get it back tomorrow or soon after. i will pillar/glass bed the action as soon as i get it home and then its off to the range. I also ordered the bvss trigger guard. i think its that one. the one that fits the stock anyway. Can't wait to shoot it.
