Hi guys,

Just bought a Stevens 200 in .223 yesterday with scope and rings. great gun for the money. Shoots really well. Only problem is that is has a hell of a time feeding the last round from the magazing. The bolt seems to clip the case and then ride overtop of it when I close the bolt. It only does this on the last round though, probably because there is less mag spring tension. I was using federal hollow points. I havent tried any other ammo yet, so is it possible its just the bullt type? Any ideas whats wrong?

Thanks

Push with your finger when you are at the last round, if it rattle a bit or the pressure of the sprig is lite, it could be that, do not own a 200 but there is surely a way you could increase spring tension by streching it, do not look like a big problem... JP.

I have the same problem with mine.I've used Rem,Fed,Win,Hornady, and MFS and it does it with all them.
I'm looking for an anwser to,i was thinking of taking it back to the store and have them check it out.

Mines does it too. I'm going to try changing the angle with a round file a bit at the front of the mag and polish it a bit. They seem to catch there every time. Shoots like a hot damn though... 1/2" 5 shot groups @ 100yds with 50gr Ballistic Tips @ 3400 :D

Not to be a smarty pants as this has been mentioned before.
Are you pulling the bolt all the way back?
If so, there is a vertical plate at the rear of the magazine body.
I believe this needs to be bent forward slightly to push the last cartridge
forward so the case head can pop up a bit more.
Or the mag lips are a tad tight on the rear not allowing the cartridge to pop
up enough for the bolt face catch.
After I swapped out my daughter's 200 stock for a laminate, I ran into this also.
If you watch what is happening, you should be able to see what the problem is.
