Hi plan to purchase a Stevens 200 in 30-06 tmrw which scope mounts should I buy so the sales guy does not sell me something I really don't need. I plan to mount either a Redfield Revolution or a Bushnell 3200. Thx in advance:dancingbanana:

For 30-06 recoil Id say go with some good rings. Leupold, make some solid rings I have been looking at but my .223 doesnt really need em. I think they are called PRW. Also the Burris Zee rings seem to be popular and allow offset inserts to increase elevation adjustment. Some guys dont like em but I have a couple freinds who use them on a couple guns.

I use Burris Zee rings and love them. I would recommend NOT going with a one piece base tho. I did, and I get pretty annoyed trying to tuck cartridges under the dang base when I am in a hurry (or cold, or, or or).

I've got Talley Lightweights on my Stevens 200 30-06 and they work perfefctly. Some scopes don't mount well becasue they have short main tubes and the Savage action tends to be long. I'm running a Burris Signature 3-9x on mine and have about 3/8" to 1/2" of room to adjust the scope fore and aft.

Pick the rings and bases you want and then make sure your scope will fit. But i'd still vote for the Talleys...they're outstanding kit.

You will want weaver number 46 bases.as for ring if you are putting a scope with a short tube length you will need extended rings as these rifles have a long c to c on the bases.I have a 270 and had to go with the extended rings for both a short tube and also to get the proper eye relief.

Thx for the replies im new to a top fed gun as per my usual clip. I just want enough room for my fat fingers to easily place the cartridges in the gun. I was looking at the savage scope combo which I believe is almost the exact gun as the stevens but it has been on backorder for so long it is annoying, that and the fact a friend of mine is an auto painter and said he will paint my stock anyway I please to customize it for me and only me. I will send pics later and show the finished product R:d:

Weavers and Zees .............. You won't be disapointed.

+1

This combo has worked well for me on a number of rifles.

Thx for all the replies. I ended up going with the Leupold's. I mounted an old 20 dollar bushnell 3x9 until I buy my new scope in the states because it is way cheaper. I used some winchester power max 150's and with one shot had it on paper at 25 with no boresighting, made a couple adjustments and within 4 shots I was shooting within an inch at 100 yards, and just for fun tried it at 200 and was in 2 inches with 2 shots. Soooooooo happy I bought my Stevens for cheeeeeeeep very happy thus far!!!

I contacted the border crossing both Can and US, the Canadian side said they could care less about me bringing back as quoted 5000 rounds of ammo and the scope lol, but I phoned the yanks and they confirmed I can not purchase ammo or scopes in the US. So as long as the yanks don't pull me over then no problem,,,,,,,,umm to save 50 bucks Ill pay extra in Canada I guess. Thx for the post R:d:
