Couple questions on these :

1.What has to be done on these to shorten the stock, then reattach the (a) recoil pad. Any one with a procedure please detail it so a 5 year old can grasp it ( because thats the limit of my technical expertise:) )

2. Are there any of these selling used/new and if so what kind of $

What I'm looking to do is pick up a 243 or 7 08 for a youth rifle (niece).

Final question - if I picked up a 22/250 what is the cost & procedures required to rebarrel/rechamber to 250 savage

Thanks for the help & suggestions

Gun mods

Lorne re barreling and rechambering a Stevens will likely cost in the neighbour hood of $600.00.
You likely wouldn't want to replace the recoil pad on a Stevens with the original pad, because it really isn't a pad per se, its a very hard piece of rubber that does little or nothing to absorb recoil. To make as easy and most effective, if I were you, I would cut off an inch of the plastic stock and use a slip on Limb saver pad. As an alternative you could look at an aftermarket stock for a Savage model 110.
P&D in Edmonton I believe have a 7mm-08 on the shelf at $369.00.
You could call Prairie Gun Works and they will quote you an exact price for re chamber and re barreling, they are in Sask some where.FS

Gunnutz,
I bought a Stevens 200 from P&D -excellent fast service, had the gun in three days, no fuss no muss. I recommend them highly.

Thats what I thought on the recoil pad. I'll probably replace with a good one

Thanks for the info, I'll give Prairie gun works a call
