Stavens 200

Good choice for an econo rifle. And they come in cool ctgs like 7mm-08...;)

The only reason not to buy a stevens over a savage is if you wanted the accutrigger. You should be able to reduce it to a safe 3.5lbs and make it very crisp though. A better trigger could make it much more accurate over long ranges. My 22-250 gets me within that 1MOA with a 3-9X40 and shoots well enough out to 300yrds with 3.5" groups. I'll admit that a better more experienced shooter would get much better accuracy out of it though.

Oh so true....but here we go anyways. I purchased a 200 in .223 at WSS's grand opening. I'm impressed and having a lot of fun with it. There are a lot of prettier guns out there, no doubt. But a better bang for you buck? - I doubt it. :)

I must be "super" cool. All rifles in my gunsafe bearing the caliber stamps 22-250, .223 and 7mm-08 have Indian Heads on them.

Have a Stevens 200 in .243win. Thing shoots sweet!!!...Zeroed it for 100yrds(100grn Win. Super X) three group shot can be covered with my thumb!!...Shooting from one sand bag!!...For $399.95can(plus tax) Can't beat it!!!(Just threw a Bushnell 3-9X32 sportsman at it and good to go!!)

Actually, ths stocks are kinda ugly on the outside, I'll admit. But it is nothing a file and some sandpaper, a bit of paint can't fix. The insided however, is a pretty nice inlet for the guy who want to do a bedding job. A lot easier to work with than some more expensive rifles. Don't forget the pillar mounts either.
