Stevens 200

Ive got one in 223 and started my wife with one in 7-08. Rifles that cost what they do, shouldn’t shoot like they do. Both tack drivers. A little clunky and unrefined but man did mine shoot. Ive sold my wife’s to a buddy for his kids, and haven’t been able to bring myself to part with the 223 even though I rarely use it.
It seems that plenty of guys like to use them as a base for builds. But to answer your question, I think guys tend to hold on to them cause they shoot.

They were the pre axis model. I missed out on them but friends grabbed a few and like above they were clunky but super solid and out shot guns worth several times more. I don't find my axis .223 to be super awesome, but my axis 2 .243 shoots nice groups and then shoots out the staples if you want.

My Axis XP (pencil barrel) shoots MOA all day long with handloads whether the barrel is piping hot or cold. Got rid of my more expensive guns and kept this one.

I had one in 7 Rem mag. Couldn’t sell it fast enough, in fact I owned it for a few months and had to send it for repairs three times in the very short time I owned it. Nothing but feeding issues, they replaced the ejector twice and then I can’t remember what they did to fix it. It shot ok though.

They are a no frills 110 action. I have one in 25-06 with a boyds stock. Love it for what it is. A no regret/worry hunting rifle. Very accurate usually if you can get used to the 6lb triggers!

I bought a couple of them back when they were on the market - a blind mag Savage 110 what's not to like? All of them shoot very well and still do after all these years. Despite being really popular at the time you don't see much on the EE nowadays which probably speaks more to its accuracy and function than to its sales figures. When the Axis finally replaced the Stevens 200, I also bought a first gen Axis brand new (remember when it was called the "Edge"?) and you really can feel the difference in quality despite being the same retail price at that time of model transition.

I'll never sell any of my Stevens 200's...they just have served me way too well to let any go.

No, they’re rebranded model 11’s based of the model 10 action.
