I saw one of those little Stevens 300F trappers in the EE and I thought it looked like a pretty good pickup gun for gophers on the farm.
The poster said its only accurate to about 25 yards.
Is this the way they all are?

If you have experience with these I'd like to hear about it.

*edited to get the model right*

I'd use mine for gophers(if we had them:( ). I've found the short length to be very handy in the truck and the tight brush. The sight radius is quite short so I scoped it(bushnell banner 1.5-4.5x32) and is worth the scope. Terrible trigger but there's threads on fixing that already. If you're slinging it across your back for any distance I would also check out the norinco shorty. Its mag catch isn't such a pain. Both with decent ammo will shoot well.

My Stevens 300F and 305F were able to group 5/8 inch 5 shot groups at 50 yards. The .22 preferred Winchester Wildcat ammo and the .22 mag preferred CCI 40 grain HP. I never tested them after shimming the triggers, but the new owners were very impressed. I'm on my fifth model 300F - just love them.

I love mine for what it is, a Bang Flop gun. Frustrating to take it to the range and run hundreds down the tube at paper, great for silhouettes.

No, the first two were bought for accuracy testing, and then sold for other purchases. I then bought two more (.22 and a .22 mag) again, and never had time to get out to the range so they were sold off on the forum (got bored). The last one I currently have is new unfired in the box. They are all from the same serial number lot brought in to Gagnon Sports at my request early last year. And, after this many purchases, I get a pretty good deal on them. You can tell by my trader rating I like to buy and sell a lot.
