Bought one of those short barreled Stevens 305s a while, nice little rifle.

However its got the worst trigger Ive ever owned....any mods for this little gun?

The trigger is like pushing against a brick wall: no movement or creep at all. Then eventually the sear trips. Would be nice if it weren't so heavy, but you can get used to it.

As I understand the Savage Accu-Trigger won't drop in, if you find someone who's switched their factory trigger out. Rifle Basix Sav-R-Sear (Brownells part No. 758-000-004WB for a hundred U.S. bux) is what you need; adjustable from 10-24 Oz. (Or hone things yourself, if you dare!)

click your way over to rimfire central, and go to the savage forum, there is info there on how to shim the trigger for a better trigger pull. I did mine and it is vastly better. I don't remember if there were any spring mods involved, but the instructions walk you through it.

The Savage Accutrigger bolts right in. Switch the mounting bolts as well while you're doing it. I've done about 10 of them. Shimming the trigger means less thread contact on the mounting bolts. Done a pile of them that way too and Accutrigger is more reliable. I buy an Accutrigger rifle, swap trigger units and mounting bolts, and sell off the rifle with the plain trigger at a slight loss. Everyone wins.

I just picked one of these in 22 Mag off of a fellow cgner. Shoots great but about a half mile of creep on the 9# trigger. Got a badger and a coyote with it yesterday. I plan on doing something with the trigger to make it more serviceavle.
