So a buddy of mine drops by tonight and says, "hey, your a gunnut, can you figure out how this bolt comes out of my shotgun?". Nice looking Stevens 59A bolt action .410..."No problem!" I say...check the chamber, hold the trigger back and try to pull bolt back...no go. "AHA! There's a small bolt in the housing!" I remove that as well...guess what, bolt still won't come out.
Apparently, not a very brilliant gunnut...anyone know how this cursed bolt comes out  ?

Not sure about that particular gun, sometimes the bolt has to be cocked, you can try racking the gun, open the bolt, with the bolt back pull the trigger and continue pulling the bolt out. Some of the bolt action shotguns had retention screws, look for a screw or bolt going through the reciever to the bolt, the H&R guns had this. There may be a release that would be either located on or around the trigger guard. I don't have this gun but there are a few different tricks for both rifles and bolt action shotguns, I have used guns with all the different released listed. Try these things, just don't force anything the bolt should come out easily.

On a couple of rifles I have, to remove the bolt, you have to move the safety to a central position which allows the bolt to slide out. Maybe try that, you shouldn't have to force anything ,you just have to find the special trick for this particular firearm. GOOD LUCK.
