Stevens Favorite 1894

The barrel is original Stevens with 1915 sights & the wood is original
chipped and all.

I was wondering if they stamped the receiver when the gun was factory
redone , I have seen this stamp on other Favorites with changed barrels.

Original barrels have the J. Stevens role stamp on them.

Also if factory worked the screws were replaced along with the take down bolt.

Some of my Favorite things ... skwerl

The authentic roll stamp doesn't guarantee a "factory refit". Outfits like Bannerman's & Numrich sold factory built parts from model endings that are factory marked overbuilds by the box car full and gunsmith/home shop rebuilders installed these anywhere & everywhere.

i installed a "factory new" 38-56 barrel on an 1895 Marlin a couple years ago that i purchased a couple years ago from a CGN member that had the original Marlin roll stamp that mirrors the 3 other 1895's that I had. That barrel was built sometime around turn of the century but the treads had never been marked from being spun on an action.

I have a nice collection of these and converted a 32rf over to 32S&W which is pretty small. Works great and everything is holding up fine. Did a Remington Model 4 in 32S&W long and shoots a 90 gr projectile with trailboss. That’s at what I believe to be the upper limit for it. I mostly shoot the 32 S$W out of it but throw a long in once in awhile when I want some extra power.

Appears , the screws are “ redone” , weather, they are new( can’t tell from pics) or refurbished.... also can’t tell from pics, the barrel doesn’t look to be original, to the rifle, but again pics are hard to tell . Do you have a pic of the breech end of the barrel and maybe the extractor pic please, also when you take it down, the piece at the end where it’s been turned down to go into the receiver socket , would help...I have a couple of these little rifles, the last one I picked up was it in 22k hornet ( thanks Doug! ) I also have a couple more, in recalibrate barrels, 32 colt , 17.
The take down screw has been worked on too, but if the same guy worked on yours it will be a gem!
Best of luck.
Cheers
