Filed my first dovetail last Saturday to install a Cub/Cadet peep on my Stevens backpacker (13" barrel). Worked very well but needed a taller front sight which was expected. I installed a .570" which I had on hand which works fine. But intend to try a .538" Firesight.

In the rain last Sunday afternoon I found the rifle was grouping well (two at 1 1/4") but printing 22" high at 100yds with the factory front sight. So I installed the higher one and got close on paper at 25yds and then fired these 3 shots at 100yds using a 6 oclock hold under the bull with 30gr Vmax ammo.

Then I tapped over the hammer adjustable front sight a little and fired 3 more shots with 34gr Win Supreme which always printed as tight but slightly lower in past experience with a scope.

Pretty happy with the results considering this gun is said by the manufacturer to be only accurate to 25yds. That peep is a game changer IMO.

Also I have tried mocking up a 2.5x Leup and a 2.5x Simmons I have on hand on the rifle. Both have long eye relief and small eye bells so they will fit nicely just tucked in ahead of the peep - still mounted quite low.
