Question: i am seriuosly considering buying the
for-mentioned rifle.
I would like to get some feed back from people
who have this rifle and caliber.
Is it a good rifle and does the calber go with the model?
It will be a coyote gun.

I haven't heard anything bad other than they are ugly. After holding one in WSS I have to agree with the ugly thing. They are all steel, and I have heard that they shoot well.
I am a bit of an elitist dink when it comes to rifles, but I am thinking about buying one in .223 just because of the accuracy rumor, an I want a good truck gun.
I'd say buy it if that is your price range.

For $350 you can't go wrong.
I just purchased one in .223 and sighted it in this morning.
Fired 60 rounds thru it, accuracy is very acceptable.
The 22-250 is an excellent caliber as well, however if you plan on doing a lot of shooting, the barrel life is somewhat reduced compared to the .223

.223 is cheaper to shoot unless you are into reloading whereas the difference would be negligable.

One nice feature of the 223 is almost no recoil. The 22-250 has more of a kick to it.

They look a lot better after a paint job.

The bluing on mine kind of sucked but the accuracy is there. For the price I have no complaints.

I just bought one, lightened the trigger (easily adjustable, and it's now very nice) and bedded it with JB weld. Haven't hit the range with it yet, but I did do quite a bit of poking around before I bought it and I basically only heard good things. Nice and light as well. If you happen to shoot out your 22-250 (which is actually way more rare than some guys seem to suggest) you can ger pre-fit barrels for it later on, which is cool too.

Thanks for the feed back, i did hear it was a good shooter,
just thought it was a bit ugly looking as "Ducimus" mentioned.
nice paint job. how did you go about that?

I had one that was subsequently rebarreled to 358 win. They are a nice shooter and will kill coyotes with ease. I am eyeballing one in 223 as a compliment to my mod 110FP in the same.

A bit of time with some sandpaper to knock down the mold lines and a pass or two with krylon fusion and you have a fully serviceable coyote gun at a decent price. The only drawback is that a 22" tube is a couple inches short of what i would consider optimal in a 22-250.

I sprayed the whole stock with tan, then spread some straw type grass that was growing out back over it and dusted back and forth with coats of black. I guess I should have clear coated it but I don't really care, it's a beater coyote rifle.

The Stevens 200 is great rifle to do a few modifications on.I've sanded and painted the stock on my .223 and finished it with a matte clear coat. Ive also added a Rifle Basix trigger ,an oversized bolt handle, and replaced the plastic trigger guard with a metal one.The scope is a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5x14x40 SF set in Burris Signature rings on Leupold bases.

I've got the 200 in 30-06. It shoots sub-moa with no tweaking (other than adjusting the trigger) and handloads. I think you're nuts to not buy it. The rifle is solid (ask Mysticplayer about his 200s he's built into match rifles) and the chambering is perfect for what you want to do. Throw a Burris 3-9x Signature in some Talley Lightweights (the Signature will fit in the Savage long action whereas some others won't with that set of bases) and you're ready for load development.

I've got one in 25-06 for a coyote gun. For the price, can't beat it. Trigger needs tweaking right off the bat though. And the stock is a lot of fun to "customize"

22-250

bought on last year in 22-250. other than the somewhat flimsy (and ugly) stock, i honestly can't complain about the gun at all. so far my best 5 shot group at 200 yards is about 7/8" with handloads. i'm seriously considering buying another for a custom project

Thats great feed back and pics.
Feel free to post some more pics if any others have them.
Maybe we can start a forum just for the 200's.
I plan on giving it a custom paint job.
I have decided in getting one in .223
softer recoil and a little quieter.

If you want:
a) trigger under 3 to 3 1/2lbs
b) Det center feed mag
c) metal trigger guard
d) nice squishy recoil pad

Go straight to the Savage 11FCNS. The Stevens and Savage are identical actions. Just the accessories affect the price.

If you want the above, it is cheaper to buy the Savage then a Stevens and swapping in parts.

Otherwise, the Stevens is a great buy for a basic, functional and accurate rifle. I would recommend bedding the action in the stock and opening the forend ALOT (1/8" gap is not big enough). The stock is too flexy and can hit the barrel so leave lots of room or reinforce.

Getting them before the pricing goes up.

Jerry
