Just recieved my new .223 Stevens today from WSS.Only took 5 days from ordering despite thier warning of delayed shipping.Nice gun for 329.00.Will update with function/trigger/accuracy results. As of last Monday they stil had 15 in .223.American sites are saying you cannot get a short action for love or money there as the gun's popularity is huge.

I hope you enjoy and have as good results with yours as I did with mine. I purchased during their grand-opening sale in Cowtown, so got another 10%. I posted this before, but without a trigger adjustment and shooting cheap Winchester USA 45gr. JHP I get 5/8" groups. I even put a Bushnell scope on that gun (don't tell anybody). My plans for it are a obvious bedding job, SSS trigger and a stock touch up and paint.

....shooting cheap Winchester USA 45 gr JHP...

Shooting 5/8" right outta the box with Winchester whitebox ammo? Other than painting the stock, why mess with it further?

I have cursed the day when I sold my old Rem 788 in 223 and have been trying to find an affordable replacement. This seems to be it. Now, if I can just find one...

(Also, I like the older JAP Bushnell scopes)

Love mine!

Shoots 69gr SMK into 1/4-1/2" groups at 100 yds all day long.

No bedding job yet.

Dang!

I already have two Remy bolt's in .223 but all this talk of sub MOA Stevens 200's "right outta the box" in .223 makes me want to buy one for myself!

Well, I hope your future groups shrink further and don't end up going the other way... ;)

I know that it may sound silly, but a fellow needs something to do next winter in preparation for January and February yotes. I also really enjoy bedding jobs. I do understand your point though. ;)

Well I caved and finally picked up a Stevens 200 in .223. It's the only savage in my safe, because they're just too ugly next to my remmies. Can't say I would ever be proud of the way it looks. But for the $$, I am happy with it, and it will become my [only] .223 range rifle and primary coyote slayer (it's pretty light !).

Mounted a spare scope on some spare weaver :)redface:) rings. Minor tweaks included filing the stock to get rid of sharp edges, and adjusting the No. 5 screw to make the trigger feel surprisingly light with minimal creep...kinda impressed with that.

Picked up 120 rounds of winchester ammo (cheap to feed eh ?)which I will use to break in the barrel (as in shoot all 120 rounds prior to cleaning) and then start handloading with the brass.

We shall see how she shoots this weekend.

Got me one in 22-250. Then i ordered a stock for it (tupperware ugly, laminate nice) then a 358 win barrel to screw onto it. Im telling ya, the initial price is cheap, but they get you with doo-dads and upgrades. Yes they are ugly, but the posibilities are endless.

No endless possibilites here ! I am keeping it stock as I have zero interest in a customized stevens. For my needs as is is as does (although a paint job might be in the works).
